I’m sure many of you, like us, are doing some spring cleaning and creating fresh new spaces at your office and home. One of the recent projects we conceptualised was that of the all new "You Bar", skin and nail salon in Illovo, Johannesburg.This is the flagship store for a stunning, relaxing and comfortable space for pure relaxation and VIP treatment! The interior look is vintage-industrial with a hint of french provence style, creating a warm, inviting space for clients to switch off and get pampered. The bright, glass jar-lights in the shopfront is what passers-by are drawn to in the storefront, highlighting the retail bays that stock leading skin and nail products. The retail bays have been kept open to allow for viewing into the store and to draw the visitors in to the pampering zone! In the pamper zone clients are treated to VIP teatment with comfy armchair seating, ottomans to put their feet up and delicious, healthy herbal teas. Copper pendant lights and accents tie in with the corporate identity and branding of You Bar and are right on trend at the moment. While inside the store, the aroma of the aromatherapy proucts and lighting in the store create a peaceful, calming environment - just what the doctor ordered after a hectic day! And then... finally for this blog some feedback from Decorex and 100% Design that took place from 6-10 August at Gallagher Estate, Midrand. Some of SA’s most talented decorators and designers showcased their stuff at this years expo - the 22nd year of Decorex! Handmade products and upcycling were prominent features throughout the expo and upcoming designers got to show off some of their latest and “out the box” creations ... Factory 5 had a great stand which still have us loving the plywood trend. Bleached and Mike Made This displayed some original innovative and quirky custom made wooden furniture - great for anyone looking for a unique piece to spark conversation! There was an abundance of colour and variety in all areas. The stands we loved that were FULL of colour included the Burnt Earth Designs stand with handmade ceramics as well as the Stephen Falcke stand using the fun, floral fabrics sourced from Hertex - the colours were sublime! Unfortunately we were a little short on time this year but definitely left very inspired and energised! Next year we’ll be sure to take a full day or two to really take in all the detail at Decorex! Looking forward to it!
